The World We Leave Behind

If we want to change the world
We have to change our hearts and minds
What we live is what we believe
If we look at our world, what do we find?

A solider dies in the midst of battle
We cry and move on
But his family is left broken and distorted;
Somehow they must continue with him gone.

Sad, so sad
No one benefits but the rulers of the day
No one wins in war,
What does your conscience say?

Or have we been so brainwashed to think
That somehow this is all part of a Divine Plan
That a Deity being Love itself,
would call upon others for the destruction of man.

We all need to stop fighting one another,
Who benefits from all the devastation?
Divide and conquer is the way of the Destroyers
What we need is unified restoration.

What of the generations that yet to be—
What will one day they discover?
That we were all too eager
to kill one another
For the whims and wishes of ruler and priest,
To soothe the Ego and satisfy the Beast.

What kind of world are we leaving behind?
If we look at the world what do we find?
