It said it failed to raise enough funds to support its plans to write mortgages.<\/p>\n<p>Volt chief executive Steve Weston described its closure as an \u201cincredibly sad day\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve built something as a team that Australia really needs to bring banking competition to the market. We\u2019ve got technology and capability that simply doesn\u2019t exist in Australia today,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut for us to take that to a public launch, we need petrol in the car and by petrol we need capital.
